Family owned and operated since 2014, Devon Pixies is designed to bring a slice of a traditional English morning or afternoon tea to Logan. We are Logan's first dedicated tea house, providing a full table service experience. Our tables are set with rose pattern table cloths, vintage trio tea cup sets, glasses, side knife, and cake fork. We moved to our latest location within the Kingston Butter Factory Precinct in December 2021. We are in one of the original Butter Factory workers cottages.
Focusing on a traditional high tea (or afternoon tea) experience, our scones, cakes, and slices are made in house. This means that we are easily able to adapt our menu's to suit dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan. Most of our tea selection are loose leaf, including our Special Devon Pixies blend. We also keep a 'regular' tea bag English breakfast for those that just want an 'everyday' cuppa.
Prefer alfresco dining? Relax on our verandah with outdoor café dining, offering freshly brewed coffees, artisan teas, and a tempting array of light meals and sweet treats.
About Arwen
I have always loved to bake ever since I was a child and started entering my cupcakes into my local agricultural show and local CWA competitions. Both my parents taught me to bake - Mum was cakes and savouries, Dad was meringues and biscuits. We had our own cows which were milked twice daily, Mum used to use a hand wound separator to separate the milk and cream and she would also make our butter. Looking back, I know we didn't appreciate how good that cream, milk, and butter tasted. It was just normal for us.
In high school, I got a taste for hospitality operations when our year level ran the sandwich store at the school fete. From then on, I wanted to work in hospitality and tourism. My industry experience began at the front end of hospitality, working in international and domestic hotels. This is where I gained my wide experience in food and beverage service, events management and planning.
While studying for my business degree, I was working for a Scenic Rim vineyard. I started to focus and learn more about the local tourism industry, we were looking at how to make a relatively unnknown region into a destination. This lead me to undertaking my Masters degree in Tourism Leadership. I am passionate about being in the tourism and hospitality industry and believe that the City of Logan has so much to offer to both local, regional, interstate, and international visitors. I am currently the President of the Logan Chamber of Commerce, talking tourism, local business, and more where-ever I go.
Our daughter Daina has also started working officially on the weekends. We employ locally and have four school based trainees, allowing us to provide training and experience for our next generation of hospitality and tourism operators.
Our Vision is to create and share a small slice of an English Tea House. Where you can bring your family and friends to enjoy some time out together while enjoying delicious in house baked goodies.
Our Mission is to have 'Getting to know you service, to tell the local stories, as well as hear your stories. Our mission is to create a passion for hospitality and tourism in our younger team members and encourage them to go as far as they want to go.
We shop local, use biodegradable options as much as possible, and work to reduce unnecessary food wastage, while still maintaining a high level of food quality. In the past year, we have been able to source fully compostable takeaway coffee cups, lids, cold cups and lids, and straws!! Our coffee beans are supplied by local business, Simply Beans, whose bags are biodegradable.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the land and the traditional families of the Yugambeh region of South East Queensland and their Elders past, present, and emerging. The Yugambeh region includes families that identify as Gugingin, Kombumerri, Mununjali, Wangerriburra and others.
